|GREAT THINGS AND MEMORABLE TIMES AHEAD FOR JACARANDA AND EMNOTWENI CASINO
Jacaranda and Emnotweni Casino have cemented a long-term friendship by pairing-up under the same roof. Jacaranda has moved into a state-of-the-art studio at Emnotweni Casino, from where it will broadcast across Mpumalanga.
The new studio, built by Emnotweni Casino, was officially launched Tuesday, 1 March 2011 at an exclusive event attended by Nelspruit’s mayor, Lassie Chiwayo; key stakeholders from Tsogo Sun Gaming and Jacaranda, and select members of the media at the casino’s newly-refurbished Explorers Restaurant.
Jacaranda, which has some 2.1 million listeners, has been broadcasting from a studio in Polokwane for the past 13 years. Plans have been long underway to move the studio to Nelspruit which is undoubtedly one of South Africa’s most dynamic emerging cities. Emnotweni Casino, supported by its holding company, Tsogo Sun Gaming, helped bring these plans to fruition.
“Nelspruit is up and coming as one of the country’s most versatile and popular entertainment, sporting, leisure and business destinations, and so we believe that it’s fitting that the region’s favourite commercial radio station should have its roots right here. We are delighted that we were in a position to give Jacaranda a home in Nelspruit.
“Emnotweni Casino and Jacaranda have kindred spirits when it comes to commitment to community and delivering first-class entertainment. The station and Emnotweni have worked closely on numerous projects and initiatives over the years, and the friendship has evolved considerably. The launch of the new studio at Emnotweni Casino marks the start of better things and greater times ahead for this world class partnership, and we’re looking forward to what’s in store,” says Emnotweni Casino’s General Manager, Ig Olivier.
Commenting on the new studio, Jenny Griesel, spokesperson for at Jacaranda said: “We’re really thrilled with our new studio because it puts us at the very heart of Mpumalanga’s ‘entertainment capital’.
Jacaranda’s new studio is right in the hub of Nelspruit’s favourite entertainment destination; next to Explorers’ Restaurant at the link with Riverside Mall. Passersby can see first-hand what goes on behind the scenes at Jacaranda as all that separates them from their favourite DJs is a wall of glass.
Jacaranda CEO Alan Khan says, "Nelspruit is one of the fastest growing cities in South Africa and we are honoured to move our regional studio to Mpumalanga. Our alliance with Tsogo Sun Gaming has allowed us to partner with Emnotweni Casino to make our radio station more accessible to our audience. As South Africa's number 1 independent radio station it's important for us to be close to our community and this new studio gives us a fantastic presence in the dynamic Nelspruit region."
Jacaranda’s regional programme, presented by top local presenter, Miguel Proenca, will be presented daily from the new regional studio 12 – 4pm Monday to Friday, 10 – 2pm Saturdays meaning that the shift to Nelspruit will not compromise the station’s regional footprint and it will continue to reach Limpopo and the Lowveld in Mpumalanga as it has done for the last 13 years. The studio will also make it possible for the station to bring its other award-winning programs hosted by a stellar cast of top radio names – including Darren Scott, Maurice Carpede and Martin Bester – to the province.
