There is R60 000 in prize money for the taking in Emnotweni Casino’s fast-paced Blackjack Tournament this month. The stakes are high and anyone can play.

“Some think blackjack is difficult to play and takes too long. Our tournament will prove them wrong. It’s fast, it’s fun and you don’t have to be an old hand at the game,” says Ig Olivier, General Manager of Emnotweni Casino.

The Blackjack Tournament kicked off on Friday, 30 July and runs until Friday, 27 August, with the semi-finals and finals taking place on the same day on Saturday, 28 August. The competition takes place very Friday night at the casino between 19:00 and 21:00. R500 or 50 000 Club Festival points buys an entry to the competition and there are only seven players per set. There will be two sets each Friday. If you’re late, you cannot buy-in once the game is on and players drop out when they’ve lost their chips. The player with the most chips at the end of 14 hands is the winner. The winner of each set gains a seat at the semi-finals when they’ll play off to be in the finals. Four wild card finalists will also be selected through training tables at Emnotweni Casino and an email competition.

The top three players in the finals walk away with cash prizes; the 1st prize is R40 000, 2nd prize is R15 000 and 3rd prize is R5 000.
For those who want to learn to play blackjack, there’ll be free lessons every Friday at 17:00 at the blackjack table in the Salon Prive.
